I’d also rue the fact you have to. Hope the majority of you get a break soon.
I wonder how Bob Saget and Dave Coulier aren’t in this picture.

He realized early on how scary television could be for little ones and, with puppets and beautiful songs, made a safe place for them.

Bowie isn’t fantastic. Neither is Bill Murrey or Betty White. They are just people that have been grasped onto by social media and exemplified. It helps if they’ve died and get a “martyr” image too.
I mean some Bowie stuff is good, Life on Mars, Lets dance… But he’s just a British Melloncamp.

Jonnyprophet@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which mythical deity / being would be the most enjoyable to snack upon?1·8 months agoCame here for this… I mean, he did say Eat Me. (Not like that, sicko.) This is my body, tastes like good crust bread.
He probably worked on it a bit before he died. Like ate a lot of Sage and Thyme at the last supper or something.

WTF… Translating news stories which parent and child can discuss honestly (and if not… Well, discuss them honestly. That’s the point of the post) into issues to be separate on… Is, well, just the point we are all trying to avoid.
I hope you can discuss points like this open and honestly. (Yes, even killing and death. The deaths are less important than the communication about them you are forging.)
Jonnyprophet@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is one relatively unknown thing that your country does much better than elsewhere, but that most people don't know about?1·8 months agoDamn. This actually makes me want to live in Belgium. If not for the billiards, then for the church bells. If not for those, then for the competitive pigeons… Then the cards. (In that order)
Jonnyprophet@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Whats a current obstacle or challenge in your life you'd like to share and have people brainstorm for solutions?2·8 months agoJust something to keep in mind. If someone is a dick to you, abusive or ruthless, or just hurtful… 90% of the time, it’s not you. It’s them. There is something broken in them that makes them mean, and needing to hurt. They are malfunctioning.
The last 10% of the time… Own it and work hard to fix it…
But hurtful people hurt, not because of you, but because they are damaged and want to hurt people, and that’s wrong.
Jonnyprophet@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was something you learned too late in life?24·8 months agoWhen someone is abusive or hurtful to you, 90% of the time it’s not your fault. It’s that there is something wrong or something broken in them. They are malfunctioning and it’s necessary to understand that.
The other 10%… Well, own that and fix your mistake.
But a very large majority of the time, it’s them being broken and wrong.
This is a really great answer. Concise, listed, and checks all the boxes. Kudos.
Naw. That’s legit. Gen X is the reason this tw*t is in office and I’m not proud of it. There are quite a few in my generation that “being forgotten/ignored” as a parenting practice proved to not be the right answer for. There are a lot of struggling Gen Xers.
Please judge Gen X on how we thought you could take your hands off the wheel (unregulated kids) and it’ll turn out right… When we were born, boomers left us on a straight flat road. The millennials got a bumpy, curvy road (the Internet is Big and extended families are getting smaller) and realized they had to hold on for dear life.
I think they have it fuckin hard and are doing amazing/their best with it.
That’s all.
