I love that this guy talks about his 30’s like most people talk about their late teens/early 20’s.
And his dance around framing this sounds like a lawyer advised him, “don’t say anything, but if you do, stay vague like this and deny deny deny”. Although, the “OK, sure I might have “dated” and bought gifts for girls that were underage, some maybe I never even interacted with other than them asking out of the blue for money/gifts” seems both sad/bad way to explain it away.
Much easier to grift off FUD than hope, and for many that income stream and power are near impossible to walk away from. If they tell themselves a lie enough they begin to believe it almost as much as their base does, and it’s easy to get caught up in and go down the rabbit hole and end up outside of reality.
It’s also easier to rationalize being the victim of “them” than it is coming to terms with being out of touch.
One of the things I find the most wild about this is that he’s been a criminal his whole life, is now a convicted felon, and still tries to play the white knight of law and order.
We need to start countering the Rights propaganda before it’s too late, spin their own words around and make going after immigrants looking for a better life the victims of a political witch hunt. Make them the people “treated so badly, perhaps the worst in history”. It’s the Billionaires weaponizing the DOJ against minorities and immigrants, the Billionaires have been living on Easy Street for decades.
Trump has previously been highly critical of Mr Zuckerberg and Facebook - calling the platform “anti-Trump” in 2017.
So much for “free speech” and all that “freedom” these guys are always going off about. The guy did his part of being hands off and letting Trump’s disinformation spread far and wide on Facebook in the run up to 2016, but now feels like he has to pay a million dollars to keep his business in OK standing.
This is just the beginning of Trump’s fascist regime, with open bribes and bullying corporations to do the States bidding. And Elon obviously saw it as both an opportunity to make Trump swap from EV bad to non-Tesla bad, and Elon gets a government job firing people that would be roadblocks for his corporations.
This is going to be an insane timeline, and hoping anyone with any power doesn’t just hand the government over to this mad man and end the Republic without a fight.
Trump and his posse have also been on a 8+ year tirade about imprisoning/killing the guy as well. No way would I spend my remaining days (Biden is realistically not long for this world) on egg shells waiting to see if they are going to further punish my kid that would already be serving his prison term (unlike Trump!).
And I think Biden would have 100% stuck to his previous stance had Trump not chosen the most grossly incompetent and very vindictive selections for his DOJ positions (and all spots really) hellbent on going scorched earth on Biden and everyone ever in his orbit.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t purposefully tank the dollar to push Trump crypto coins, that will be regulation free and used for fraud/corruption/money laundering.
But he loves Black people (like when he and his father were sued for racial discrimination in their buildings), and he promised to protect “Black jobs” from immigrants. /s
The key thing for the incoming fascist regime is that they don’t have to dismantle or make a big show of taking away people’s healthcare, they just have to do smaller things to allow it to “fail” and then blame [current demonized group].
This is what they have been doing to education for years, and people complain about the system and not the people behind its purposeful sabotage.
Did you sleep through his 1st administration? It was all about selling out the US for profit for him and his “friends”, and trying to kill the people that live here while blaming minorities, and embracing hate groups as a personal militia.
This time around he ran on the platform of imprisoning political rivals, increasing hate against minorities/Jews/and “radical democrats”, using the military to put down opposition/protests (he was a big fan of Tiananmen Square), taking away people’s insurance, raising taxes while cutting taxes and regulation for the wealthy and crypto scammers and on and on. Just promising endless corruption, and people saw that and said “OK” and voted him in.
Why do the work for a for profit corp instead of just making a Mastodon server? I also wish we had a different term for these for-profit leeches that want to vacuum up free fediverse content for profit. I may be in the minority, but they are not Fediverse in my eyes. And we should not be working on ways to incorporate them, but on ways to block them off completely, and quarantine them to their own little islands in cyberspace.

Why do we have paperwork for something this important that relies on the new admin doing the right thing instead of a policy with actual consequences? Why does getting a job at many businesses have a higher bar (drug tests/background check/references/etc.) than head of the National Intelligence, or even the President of the United States?!
This guy loves the taste of the corporate boot on his neck JFC. Who will think of the poor mega corporations! Assholes like this are fueling the rollback of worker rights under the guise of being some worker white knight, meanwhile he spreads propaganda like this:

This is what is limiting humanity’s progress? Not the mega corps that can deceive workers, and destroy people’s lives, destroy the environment, and suck the life from everything in the name of profit, and if caught get a wrist slap already built into their margins?
Hard to control artificial prices if you “drill baby drill YOLO” as a policy, unless the government subsidizes the difference so shareholders/Wall Street can still maximize profits.

We deregulate them (even more) and let them loose on the country unburdened by rules and safety (again even less than are already relaxed rules).
It seems “podcast bros” is a pretty popular term to describe podcasts like Rogan and other hard-right disinformation podcasts.

Yeah, sounds like the more mature Plex backend might just be better for your use case. But just because I’m curious are you running Jellyfin as an app or in docker? And is your Synology Intel based or AMD, as the latter will only do software transcoding and probably easily overwhelm a NAS CPU.

This is the people on the train track’s quandary, except helping the many keeps you practicing medicine and helping people. Helping the one person gets you locked up.
It started with a bunch of kids getting lead poisoning from applesauce pouches. They then traced that back to how most spices are sourced from poor countries using basically slave labor. So, these people are both not the most careful in preventing contamination, but those paid by weight of spices are almost incentivised to cut the spice with a heavy metal or something to get more $/per lbs. for example.
Edit A good amount of chocolate and other delicious things, in the US at least, also have a “totally safe” amount of heavy metals.
