Man, nsfw it. I was on the train and when I saw this I had to start furiously masturbating. Everyone else gave me strange looks and were saying things like “what the fuck” and “call the police”. I dropped my phone and everyone around me saw this image. Now there is a whole train of men masturbating together at this one image. This is all your fault, you could have prevented this if you had just tagged this post NSFW

Is there really any flattering angles for the male body though? Also, who wants to take pics of dudes trying to look sexy? Their male friends won’t. I know we have literal works of art showing nude male bodies, but the majority of men’s bodies are shit to look at and nobody wants to look at them. Women don’t even have to have ideal bodies and men will still be elated that they sent them nudes. Meanwhile, people would be more likely to pay me to not send them nudes, at best, but more likely they’d press charges.

I have also been taught that by the mirror, and I’m pretty sure I’ve already let way too much go as it is.

Go to a gay bar. Not even joking. Gay men are the single best thing for any man’s confidence. And sense of male self-worth.

You don’t have to be gay to uplift and compliment the other men you interact with. That’s just a side effect of toxic masculinity. Men can compliment each other, uplift each other, and say “Hey man, you’re looking good today. You make that shirt look good!” without being gay. Not that I disagree with anything you said, just you’re comment got me thinking about the weird effects of the patriarchy on men supporting other men.

I agree, we shouldn’t have to go to a gay bar.

And just to be clear, it’s not just a question of men supporting men. Women don’t complement men either. No one does…except gay men.

Fair point, but I wouldn’t blame women for not complimenting men. That’s still toxic men that make doing so dangerous for them.

Come on man, take a step back and listen to yourself. Women can do no wrong, and even if they do, it’s men’s fault? I know this is a common narrative in society, but just think about it for a minute. It’s crazy, it makes no sense.

Patriarchy didn’t teach men that they’re disgusting, wtf

That’s like the opposite of the patriarchy

This is the shit feminists do that piss me off. Literally anything bad? Patriarchy. Literally anything good? Feminism. Even if it makes no goddamn sense.

I consider the patriarchy to be the social power structure that enforces gender norms. What exactly do you consider the patriarchy to be?

Is there literally anything I could do to convince you to re evaluate your position? Because I bet no, and I really don’t have the time or energy to beat my head against a wall right now.

? It’s a definition. It’s almost the exact definition on Wikipedia.

“Patriarchal ideology acts to explain and justify patriarchy by attributing gender inequality to inherent natural differences between men and women, divine commandment, or other fixed structures.”

Ya know, like male gender norms being enforced through a structural functionalist approach and the discrediting of supposedly feminine traits v such as beauty.

If you’re operating under a fundamental different definition of patriarchy than what everyone else means when you’re talking about it, obviously there won’t be agreements.

Bullshit. That’s one tiny aspect of it - men unable to support other men. The vast majority of the problem of men seeing themselves as disgusting is feminsm. “All men are potential rapists” is a disgusting and extremely prevalent ideology. All men are trash, all men are pigs, you see women say these things all the time and it’s just accepted.

You don’t need to be attracted to men to recognize them as not ugly. Plenty of straight women appreciate their form without attraction.

That being said, men often don’t take care of themselves so yeah a lot of them don’t try very much.

You don’t need to have a perfect body; lighting, indicating soft power through angles, and imagination are your friends. A lot of the best male nudes are the ones where the dick isn’t the focus(or even shown at all).

I think it has a lot to do with what the sender wants to get in exchange. Men often want that primal, purely sexual “Look at my naked body,” and assume that must be what women want too, to just see naked sexy bits.

Likewise, the best nudes that women send me (a man) are just “boom, here’s my tits”. The ones with sexy poses or outfits and fancy lighting and stuff…come on. That’s the kind of picture YOU would like. You didn’t take that for me.

I don’t know what you’re talking about man. My favorite sexy photos are ones where it’s obvious the lady FEELS sexy. If it takes some sexy lingerie and moody lighting, then so be it. If it looks like she’s enjoying the pose, then I’m into it. I can see boobs anywhere. I want to see her joy, her pleasure. That’s hot. Oddly not the ones where the girl “knows” she’s hot, those are different somehow. Don’t ask me to elaborate. Raw naughty un-dressed up sexy bits are fun too, if she looks like she’s having fun. I just don’t need her joy to be directly related to me in order to value it. I don’t care if she took it for me. She shared it with me, that’s enough.
