In case somebody else is struggling to download IronFox for Android, I have extracted the universal apk, version 151.0.2.1, from my current install and uploaded it to buzzheavier. For me, neither Obtainium, F-Droid or direct download worked from their repos, meaning, the download jumps to 30%, fails then aborts.
I’ll leave it up for a week or so. Do verify integrity and authenticity as per: https://ironfoxoss.org/download/ , since I have no idea how secure buzzheavier is. I just use it as a simple anonymous file sharing platform.
Mine’s up to date from the IronFox repo in FDroid.
Yeah, I failed to mention that this is not about updating but installing from scratch.
Better use fdroid then
Installing from Accrescent is the first option given at https://ironfoxoss.org/download/ …
Installing from Obtainium has always worked for me and their site lists Obtainium as a valid install method.
There was a change to the Obtanium set for IronFox a month or so back. I don’t remember the details, but I did have to reconfigure my settings for it. It has been working just fine since then.
Hey! Thank you so much! 🥰 I did see an issue over at Codeberg in which somebody reported something similar to my problem and to which a dev (?) replied just that! I tried applying that specific configuration (which would grab the apk from their new repo), but to no avail.
For me, neither Obtainium, F-Droid or direct download worked from their repos.
What didn’t work about that? The file would not download? Or the application would not successfully install?
You also mention that you “extracted” it from your current install, which sounds like you did get it installed somehow. What install method did work?
Thanks! I’ll clearify that in the OP. It’s the download that doesn’t work. It hangs at 30% and then fails.
I already had it installed on another unit, on which I used the apk extraction function of App Manager.
Did have some stall download not long ago, changed my fdroid client to neo store, and didn’t have the issue.
