“The first thing for me was he didn’t release the Epstein files. They’re even acting like they didn’t exist,” he said, before moving on to his other grievances. “And, of course, they’re sending Israel and Ukraine all of our tax dollars just like the numb-nuts before him did. Putting America last, and now he’s blaming the beef farmers for the price of beef.”

Mitchell added, “Hey, I’m not biased, man. He talked a good game; he tricked me. I was fooled. I admit it.”

“Yeah, I do think that Donald Trump is that beast of Revelation 13:3.”

    He talked a good game

No he didn’t. You’re just incapable of thinking critically. ESPECIALLY since we already saw what a phony he was the first time he was in office. There was no possible way to be “fooled” at that point unless you’re so full of hate that you WANT to be fooled.

This rhetoric might feel good, but its counterproductive. Someone changing their minds is a good thing. Its also not wrong to say Trump is a propaganda machine.

Everytime I see a post like yours, it reads far more like “look how good a person I am and have been for so long, where’s my up votes?”.

      It’s even worse.

He wasn’t fooled. He knew very well what he signed up for. And he was fine with it until things personally affected him. And now he claims he was “fooled”.

Nah, he’s the same racist, Nazi supporting piece of shit he’s been for the past ~10-12 years at least, but now that it’s negatively affecting his life, he’s trying to leave the sinking ship.

You’re talking about people who chose to actually fight people for a living vs performers who’s success also depends on their fans at least to some degree. I equate it to asking why cops are generally so mean but clowns are lovely. To be honest though I know some pretty mean clowns.

Helping Ukraine destroy the top US enemy while not losing men is probably the beat deal US ever had, this argument is BS. Remember, Trump is a problem/in power because of Russia, and Russia will do everything to keep destroying US from the inside out. Israel is fully understandable, but this guy no longer supports Trump because of helping Ukraine? Fuck off

I mean, people voting for Trump thinking he’d put America first probably aren’t the brightest to begin with, and International Relations can be complex enough even for the educated.

We have the benefit of access to news and information and a host of knowledgeable people to help us understand why putting a damper on Russian military confidence is a valuable objective, whether the efforts in Ukraine are achieving that and how supporting them is a worthwhile investment.

If he’s stuck in a bubble with nobody to lay all of that out for him, figuring out that Ukraine is a good deal is a tall order.

(That, by the way, is why I think the Humanities need to be taught more. I don’t think the above is hard to understand if someone points out the connections and historical precedents, provided you have the basic education to understand how those mechanisms work.)

It’s interesting that there’s still no self awareness and no personal responsibility - like: “it was written all over the wall but I was blind to see it because of my biases and judgments”. Instead it was “I was lied to”.

That’s the only path to getting these people turned around. They’ve, rightly, been called cultists and fascists. Keep telling them they’re wrong, they double down. We already saw this the first time around.

I’m very forthcoming when I’m wrong, but I still have an easier time saying I was bamboozled than plain stupid.

        That’s how I see it.

There’s also something that folks forget about people that get suckered in like this: It’s not their first rodeo.

Imagine you’re someone that gets below average marks in school, makes a lot of simple mistakes, and has to work to meet average expectations in life. All this gets called out and checked a lot by people that seem to be having an easier time at everything. A lesson the world teaches people like this is: never admit you screwed up, because maybe this time nobody noticed. It’s an environment where you just get emotionally beat up if you don’t protect yourself. So, to me at least, it’s not a surprise that a lot of people react to being called out by defending their ego every way they know how.

Re-educate who you can, help the lost the best you can, educate the young as if humanity depends on it. Ignorance isn’t a lack of ability, but often due to lack of some resource. You’ll never sit in the shade of the trees you plant, and that’s also something we all need to accept

there’s a lot of writing about how the Christians were coding their language at this time because writing about the god king was sure to be death, especially if you’re trying to warn others

Anyways the code for number of the beast, 666 or 616 was basically Nero. He killed a lot of Christians. Revolations is code for the prediction of the fall of Rome

be real and think of that bronze age world and consider how much Rome controlled the world of people who could read and write. It was something very special to write a long message. It would be something that stands out like a big screen tv does to us. they had to hid meaningful things inside fantastic stories so when their caught, they have a way out

Definitely makes sense, I don’t know enough of this kind of history.

I kinda wrote history as a subject off because all my schools focused on wars and not much else. So “history” felt like a bunch of wars and almost all of them were some variation of people in power wanting to show off their micro PPs with a few important revolutionary wars sprinkled in where the common people got sick of the people in power.

So I’m lacking in my “important details of history” knowledge that really help frame conditions as they are now. Appreciate the info, gonna go look up more.

He was voting for a guy who he thought embodied his (fucked up) values, and is now becoming aware that the guy only values himself and fucks everyone. Hopefully next time he will vote for a politician he can actually trust, and actually reflects his (bigoted) values at a meaningful level.

He drew the line at Epstein and sending tax money to Israel/Ukraine. I’m actually impressed he noticed that that line had been crossed
