You know how the right tried to twist the truth? They told, on camera, that Trump wants to continue SNAP but legally can’t.

I really want to see a reporter ask them how that fits with reality now.

I do appreciate the Mussolini ending, but…

What I have been saying since Jan 6th:

Bury him alive at the feet of Lincoln, maybe a 20 foot deep shaft, just throw him in, then the concrete.

All that would indicate anything was amiss, would be an engraved gold plate on the floor, on top of the shaft, reading SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS.

… A more patriotic spin on the steretypical real estate developer method of assasination.

Leave him encased in his own disgrace, literally under Lincoln’s feet, the only suitable place for a racist insurrectionist mob boss.

And also, the plate is gold… meant to be stepped on, and the engraving wear away with time.

There’s another reality where the hungry masses swarm what’s left of the White House like macrophages and destroy the rot inside, demonstrating with great visibility the it can be done, triggering a cascade of fascism FAFO worldwide.

Sadly, we seem to be in the cancer timeline where they take all the resources and starve us all to death instead.

In a less polarized and post truth world you’d probably be right. I fear however that the solid 36-37% maga base will never find an issue that can’t be spun or rationalized. In the magasphere this situation seems to be framed as the GOP stepping up to fight against free health care for illegal immigrants which seems divorced from reality.

          It’s not an accident…

When Nixon resigned, Roger Ailes wrote a memo that accidentally ended up in the icon presidential library:

The memo – called, simply enough, “A Plan For Putting the GOP on TV News” – is included in a 318-page cache of documents detailing [Roger] Ailes’ work for both the Nixon and George H.W. Bush administrations that we obtained from the Nixon and Bush presidential libraries. Through his firms REA Productions and Ailes Communications, Inc., Ailes served as paid consultant to both presidents in the 1970s and 1990s, offering detailed and shrewd advice ranging from what ties to wear to how to keep the pressure up on Saddam Hussein in the run-up to the first Gulf War.

The memo explains why television was the way to go:

Today television news is watched more often than people read newspapers, than people listen to the radio, than people read or gather any other form of communication. The reason: People are lazy. With television you just sit—watch—listen. The thinking is done for you.

          https://www.poynter.org/reporting-editing/2011/memo-from-1970-a-plan-for-putting-the-gop-on-tv-news/

They knew that if they owned the media, they could control what people thought, and no republican president would ever have to resign due to public outcry again.

Luckily, he was held back by federal regulations, until a good ole capitalist from Arkansas got elected and decided anyone should be able to own media in America:

The stated intention of the law was to “let anyone enter any communications business – to let any communications business compete in any market against any other.”[5] In practice, it gave way to one of the largest consolidations of the telecommunications sector in history - as such, it is often described as an attempt to deregulate the American broadcasting and telecommunications markets due to technological convergence.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_Act_of_1996

After that it was gloves off and the billionaires gobbled up every aspect of the “news” industry and maintain almost exclusive control over what a majority of Americans hear.

I truly think that a good amount of these people could be personally executed by Trump shooting them in the chest, and while Trump says “I know what you are and I hate you” they would lay there dying and say “Oh it’s okay, I know you didn’t mean that. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. I still support what you’re doing overall.” or possibly even “I guess I do deserve to die if you say so”.

Now I will say the majority of even the maga team is not this nuts. But some definitely are. Many humans have unfortunately had the privilege to never interact with the kind of person who will truly never change their mind. I’ve known one or two, and it’s a really mind-expanding experience, almost like you’re meeting an extraterrestrial. It’s hard for people who haven’t seen them to believe 👽 lol

We’re approaching a huge turning point in US (and world) history. Either republicans are going to mostly lose for a long time (at least 6 years if I were to guess), maybe until they demonstrate they’ve changed, OR they are going to succeed at rigging or cancelling elections so they don’t have to give up power. I don’t think we can expect much in between those two extremes. Makes my stomach queasy as hell to think about.

I mean we’ve seen a number of positives recently like

        • Nancy Pelosi dying retiring (might as well be the same things for old crotcheties like herself)
        • Dick Cheney dying (May god rest his soul… in hell… for all eternity)
        • Prop 50 passing
        • Mamdani winning with a higher percentage of votes than everyone else combined

        But that’s just not enough.

They are in charge of all the institutions required for a fair or even approximately close to “”“fair”“” by old standards election and there are literally no means for recourse that aren’t just straight up violence, which despite the edgy people online’s messages, no one actually has the stomach for and is therefore just words used to procrastinate.

And even with Trump they haven’t shown a willingness to admit their mistake and learn their lessons in this regard. They’ll write Trump off as a fluke and keep making all the same mistakes, including the repetition of many far-right talking points.

“sound the alarm”, horseshit. Just file the articles of impeachment and make the senators vote openly that they believe the executive branch ignoring a court order is okay. Senators should have to openly say it’s okay to not remove someone for not following the rules /“laws” of the republic. Then as Trump keeps fucking everything up the Senators will have to realize either A. They are willing to surrender their job/career/ country to back a tryant,or B. They need to jump ship.

If its fine to not listen to the courts, then there is no reason for congress to exist. Their job is to write legislation that the courts ensure breakers of that legislation are punished.

They should have done so on many other occasions, but their failures are only adding up.

File the articles of impeachment over every single illegal action he is undertaking. Make it so congress is constantly dealing with impeachment hearing every second of every day till he is dead and buried.

While doing that make sure that you call for a constitutional convention, not an amendment or a series if amendments. A full on new constitution is needed to clear the shit out.

While the House of Representatives remains out have all the democratic representatives meet and broadcast it publicly. Do that every single day, talk policy and reforms and ask republican representatives to join the meeting. Make it painfully obvious that the democrats want to have a functioning government and not be held out like this endlessly.

      Anyways tangent over.

You do not want a constitutional convention in this political climate. Amending the constitution requires 3/4 of state legislatures to ratify the amendment. Considering a solid majority of states have Republican controlled legislatures, the only things we’re likely to get from a convention are amendments banning DEI initiatives and trans people in sports, or something even worse.

I say they amend the constitution to make it 1/4 vote congress impeach, 1/3 vote removes. VP is not picked by President, it is the second most votes like when the country started. Then you put oversight committees on every executive organization and they answer directly to congress. Get rid of “executive powers” that come from declaring emergencies and etc. So impeaching president puts the VP (most likely their running opponent). Then the 3rd votes goes to VP and an emergency vote is taken place, to put a new Senate backup.

Or I’ve said before: dissolve the executive branch, and place all of the organizations under the legislature, and make a 3rd party review committee that evaluates if legislation, and judicial is being created to overpower the judicial branch or corrupt. And all organizations under the executive answer directly to congress.

Or, dissolve the Senate and the Executive… Place everything under Congress, expand the supreme Court to 50 judges one from each state. (Still would need some oversight)

But the idea is to make it so population of individuals is easily defeated, and we don’t have giant stupid news buyouts every 4 years to make 1 position something it was never meant to me. If you don’t want a king, kill the position

That would work if it weren’t for the gullibility of republican voters. GOP is clearly the ones at fault for the current shut down, yet they’ve convinced half of their supporters to blame democrats based on literally nothing.

So if the senate refuses to ratify any impeachment than all the GOP has to do is yell “TDS” and all their criminally stupid supporters would believe it no questions asked.

Not really different from our current reality tho

The events of January 6th suggest Trump would be willing to mass execute congress if he didn’t need them anymore

IIRC, Articles of Impeachment against the President are filed in the House, not the Senate.

The articles of impeachment are the house, the removal is the Senate. Requires 2/3. It’s why Trump was not removed during his 1st term. Impeached twice, and the Senate never voted to remove, the second time saying it was so close to the end it doesn’t matter if we vote. (It did matter, he most likely wouldn’t be president now if they had)
