Cattle ranchers are making less money in the US despite beef prices at an all-time high. In the meantime, Trump started importing beef from Argentina to lower beef prices, but only achieved to lower cattle prices.
This president is dangerous and inconvenient, but do love hating people who are different than me.

Cattle prices had reached record highs throughout 2025 after years of drought dried up grazing lands and forced producers to slash the nation’s herd to its smallest size in decades.
Keep on voting for climate change deniers, I’m sure it will help.
Nebraska is a heavy red state, especially out west. those dipshits will vote red for the rest of their lives and nothing can change it. Those communities are brainwashed completely, and anyone that dare speak differently is harrased and riduculed into submission.
They voted for racism, they deserve every bit of pain they receive. But it wont matter, becuase they will still vote red. The sate is just over run with willfully ignorant, hateful, “christians”.
those dipshits will vote red for the rest of their lives and nothing can change it
People keep saying this (or things like it), even after we just watched the 2025 mid-terms where across the board districts flipped that went for Donald in 2024.
I dunno, man. I think this is evidence that your ingrained prejudices might be wrong, but we’ll see.
One can only hope.
As a Nebraskan, we’re actually on the verge of losing our Blue representation. We’re one of two states that split our electrical vote, one district goes blue and the other two go red. Our governor has had a huge push this last year to change to winner-take-all, which would effectively silence the majority population of the state that lives within the blue district for the Conservative Values of the rest of the State.
It could happen.
They effectively legalized gerrymandering here in Missouri, but the bigger problem is that the Democratic Party here is 100% Schumer/Clinton-esque centrists, which appeal to no one.
We are the cautionary tale against centrism. In 2024 Republicans won every major race. In that same election Missouri voters approved amendments legalizing abortion, mandating a $15 minimum wage, and requiring paid sick leave. If Democrats had run a Mamdani Democrat here, they’d have won big. Instead they ran the same milquetoast, billionaire-loving bedwetters that they always do.
That unique election happening here in deep-red Missouri is why I’m not willing to listen when people just spout prejudices against red states. In 2024 I think it was far more about how much people hated Democrats (and rightly so, after ignoring the affordability crisis) than how much they liked Republicans.
Love the progress you guys have been making down there. We came close to electing an Independent for senator this past year, but we’re also fighting with our Governor and Surgeon General over a medical marijuana bill that passed the overwhelming majority of voters this past year yet they don’t want to support nor acknowledge. Our farmers are feeling the heat from the economic situation. I think if there’s any time to see Nebraska start to shed its fierce loyalty to Husker Red (Husker White isn’t so bad, is it?), we’ll see it happen very soon.
Our farmers are feeling the heat from the economic situation.
This is why I am, in part, optimistic about Donald losing control of Congress. Between his decision to target legal immigrants (rather than criminal) and his decision to essentially bankrupt American farmers, I expect a reckoning. The shitty thing is that, even if we hand Democrats power, it’s unlikely they’ll do anything meaningful with it. It may be significantly beneficial for the Mamdanis of the country to have an actual check against Donald’s power that, at least performatively, has to support the changes he’s trying to make. (Assuming he tries to do what he promised.)
You can only alienate your coalition so much before you imperil your own power. Just ask Democrats after their constituents told them they wanted affordability and to stop sending WMD’s to a genocide.
I’m on the left and even I hate dems right now. Maybe the old school ones will die in the next 30 years and we can keep Jasmine Crocket for 50 years instead.
most of americans are selfish voters, not racist voters…though obviously a large contingent are just…stupid racist motherfuckers that have their brain rotted by too much Murdoch (my dad being one of them), the latter only decides elections when normies can’t be bothered to show up.
most arent racist though (not enough for it to influence their voting choices), most are just selfish… republicans promise the most ratfuckery, and are the most predictable in their backstabbing (being proud in their cruelty/stupidity). any business in a red state can just plan for maximum-pain, pay their bribes, and they’re probably golden for the next 4 years.
democrats…they’re fucking shifty and too fucking smart. the bernies/AOC/mamdani’s are the exception not the rule. most US politicians in general are coastal (or local) elites that think their dick cures cancer or something (going off all the sexual harassment cases/connections to epstein)…they’re 100% going to abuse their position to fuck others over, some petty fucking grudge they’ve held for years or maybe just because they’re bored, who knows.
if you have to choose between playing with a bad liar or a good liar…playing against the bad liar is just a good business strategy. and that’s all america is, a business, the bottom line is the only thing sacred here…
In many of those cases though voter turnout was down. Alabama of all places had a progressive-ish democrat for a few years because his opponent was credibly accused of being a pedophile. Red voters didn’t carry Doug Jones to the finish line, the inaction of red voters did.
Anyone telling you trump supporters are changing their minds are lying to you. This shit is nonvoters coming out of the woodwork and saying “fuck this stupid shit”. Trump still has like 95% support among republicans. Its the people that never vote that are flipping seats.
Anyone telling you trump supporters are changing their minds are lying to you
I’m being objective. You can’t look at at an election where every single Donald district flipped blue and then argue that minds didn’t change. That’s just unreasonable.
They are giving you two valid reasons.
Virginia 2023 midterms had 41% turnout while 2025 had 54%. Even comparing governor races, 2021 had 3.2mil votes casted with an R winning and 2025 had 6.0mil votes with a D winning. Their population has remained steady with 8.6mil in 2021 and growing 0.1mil each year. That’s a massive turnout difference.
You’re not being objective.
Voter turnout has everything to do with most US elections and explains election results far better than some sort of fantasy about people waking up and deciding to abandon years of family, friends and media.
When turnout is abysmally low republicans win in a landslide. They understand this and that’s why their strategy for the last 30 years has been trying to reduce voter turnout by going after organizations like ACORN, delisting voters, etc.
More Democrats and people who were originally apathetic to politics are getting out to vote while more of the GQP supporters are staying home than usual. Trumplings are not changing their stances, and they still vote GQP til the end. The well has been heavily poisoned in certain areas of the country against anyone but Republican thugs. I find a lot of people who do not live in these areas do not understand the mentality of red until dead they take. They’d sooner vote for Satan himself than Jesus if he ran as a Democrat.
Your lived, anecdotal experience doesn’t apply to the electorate of the whole country, clearly.
And your unsubstantiated claims of Trumpers learning doesn’t hold water. But it’s not just my anecdotal evidence, its many other’s encounters with these people, of what we see them post online, of them begging but still supporting him when they arrive here. These people will still forever vote because it’s the same mentality of going “My grandaddy worked coal, my daddy worked coal, and I’ll work coal” that a lot of the Applachia states have. It’s generational brain rot.
And your unsubstantiated claims of Trumpers learning doesn’t hold water.
Maybe read the whole thread.
There is a whole-ass election to substantiate my point of view.
Your evidence is “but my feelings.”
Have a nice New Years.
And again, that’s people on the right just not showing up to vote. But you’re like talking with a wall obviously.
I hope you are right. I would love to eat my words.
All I can do is report what i see with my own 2 eyes. The racism runs deep here and often has no opposing viewpoints in the small ranch towns on the west side of the state.
I think it’s bad strategy that Donald has embraced the Biden/Harris playbook and just decided to outright ignore the affordability crisis.
Red, Blue, doesn’t matter. I don’t think the cultist mentality of some will be enough to carry MAGA to victory in 2026 because you can’t propagandize around millions being unable to afford their rent and put food on the dinner table, as Biden/Harris learned in 2024. Back then, Donald was the candidate of change. This time around, he and the people he endorses will be the candidates of starvation.
just decided to outright ignore the affordability crisis
He was never going to help with that. He doesn’t need voters anymore. So the house goes blue in 2026. Who cares? He can still grift and tariff and make billions off market swings and back room deals.
They worship a child rapist and always will. Hopefully they’ll starve in a sewer
Good. Hope you and your family starve you fat stupid fucking leprechaun bitch.
Vote an incompetent idiot into head office, you get incompetent, idiotic leadership. Have the day you voted for.
HahhahHHhahHHahahahah
Reuters spoke with a total of eight ranchers who said they still backed Trump, though he hurt prices for their cattle.
Wilful stupidity when they vote. Wilful stupidity when they reap the consequences too. You’re supposed to learn something from FAFO.
Have the life you voted for.
the same words the first time trump was in office, and did the same thing to the farmers.
Funny, my liberal blue ass is still doing okay in my blue city. Things are more expensive but overall not much has changed for me. Personally I voted blue to help those in need, expand snap, healthcare, and benefits even though in all likelihood I won’t need them.
Meanwhile they voted to “own” me, whatever that means. I don’t feel owned, but as long as they feel better without those benefits I guess?
I feel pretty owned as long as I’m paying hundreds of dollars a month for healthcare, still having to pay when I use that healthcare, and being threatened with death/lack of healthcare if I leave my job.
I thought Republicans were supposed to be about independence.
I don’t have room to start my own small business unless I marry someone who can cover our healthcare.
Man, I remember seeing an image of farmers saying “We survived 8 years of Obama, you can survive Trump.” If they could be humiliated properly they would be given how many DIDN’T and WON’T survive Trump. These people are just malicious to their core, hype individualistic, brainwashed peons with little redeeming value than the knowledge we can squeeze from them for others to take over. Even then, it’s not like that information is heavily gate kept anymore.
“guy who has proved he is bad at business does a bad business deal, his supporters suffer for it. More at 11.”
Some of these ranchers are family, so blinded by fear of ethnic minorities and “them damn antifuh slurs” that they can’t see how their blind faith in orange man is actively hurting them. These guys are literally about to lose their ranch to a corporate firm who will almost certainly hire them again to tend it until they die at starvation wages. And when their kids refuse to take those reigns they’ll bring in the very ethnic minorities those idiots are terrified to do the work instead.
Loses ranch to corporation.
“Well, at least it’s still owned by Republicans!”
“Well, at least it’s still owned by
Republicans!Chinese wealth management firms”
Argentina
blinded by fear of minorities, that they will never meet inside of thier bubble.
OMG what if the tobacco producers also went out of business?
I’m in shambles rn. Please no, or whatever

Herbivores pretty consistently taste better than carnivores. Cats also developed a symbiotic relationship with humans when humans developed agriculture.

Some cultures do eat horses without any taboos. Whether or not your culture does is linked to whether your ancestors cultivated wheat or rice. Wheat cultivating humans bred horses to help with tilling the soil and harvesting the wheat, making them too valuable to eat. Rice cultivating humans needed to cultivate and harvest rice by hand, resulting in horses being used for other things. In both cases, mechanization has resulted in horses being largely obsolete for human uses, but cultural bonds remain and they became pets, particularly in the wheat focused cultures.

I don’t think we’ve deviated far at all. Our attitudes toward animals are the product of thousands or tens of thousands, depending on the species, of years of cultural development combined with the fact that we are, ultimately, just predatory social apes. We have an instinctual craving for meat, and culture directs that craving. Even our aversion to cannibalism is, ultimately, cultural.
We’ve only recently seen shifts in cultural attitudes toward meat consumption and general treatment of animals with very little deviation having occured since the first cities were founded. And those shifts were only possible due to recent advances in agriculture and the invention of the internal combustion engine. Things won’t change quickly because nobody wants to be told that their beloved family recipe that they have fond childhood memories of is weird, or wrong, or evil. People tend to react poorly to having something they see as part of their identity questioned, getting aggressive, defensive, just shutting down, or digging in their heels and doubling down.
If your goal with this is to get people to stop eating meat, then I’ll point out that people tend to respond better to possitive interactions. “I like that dish, and I’ve found you can replace [meat] with [alternative] if you’re on a budget,” or just suggesting a vegetarian or vegan recipe without mentioning that it’s vegetarian will produce more possitive results than just telling people why they shouldn’t eat meat. I’ve reduced my own meat consumption significantly due to that kind of thing. But you can’t convince people not to do something if you don’t understand why they do it in the first place.
They have the critical thinking skills of an 8 year old which is why Trump loves fucking them so much
“i love the poorly educated”-trump, this includes people stupid enough to vote for him, even if they had an education.
“I’m still a Trump supporter. I’m just not a happy Trump supporter.”
Anybody who supports trump at this point is either brainless or heartless. Stopped reason after that. That means the guy is either completely uninformed, or he should say “I’m still a pedophile sympathizer”. Ergo, his opinion on the matter is completely worthless.
Seriously most of these people…ranchers especially…are sitting there like Gilles Fucking Corey yelling out “more face-eating leopards”.
Y’all need to go vegetarian in protest. Or at least give up red meat. Fuck this guy and fuck his industry.
Instead of giving up red meat, I have been saving the trimmings so when planting season rolls around I can just grow my own cow.
This is the best kind of cow, since as the cow grows it’s unable to move and all the suffering enflavens the meat.
It could be both.
Or at least give up red meat.
The high prices have done that for me, eating more white meat than ever.
I gave up red meat, it’s not that hard. Honestly, I’m hoping the market will take this opportunity to come up with more decent vegan alternatives. I’d like to give meat up altogether but the products that are out there currently are pricier than red meat, ffs.
This is one reason why I stepped back from veganism after like 6 years and into ovo-lacto.
The cheese alternatives, especially. You’re paying top-dollar for a sub-par product made by the same Big Food conglomerates. Why give them more money for a worse product. The money still ends up in the same dirty hands, and IMO cheese is way harder to give up than meat or “other dairy”. Other dairy products have come a very, very long way.
Also fate wound me up with 9 hens and I can’t pass up them eggs.
Follow Your Heart, which is one of the biggest (and best IMO) for vegan cheese, isn’t owned by another company. Violife is owned by Unilever, but Miyokos was only just bought by Melt Organics. And the only other brands I have seen are all very small brands that are local. So I am not sure why you claim they are owned by “the same Big Food Conglomerates” when Violife is the only one that is true for.
Dairy, by nature of stress-spoiling, is relatively cruelty-free. That is to say, the profit motive is harmed unless you make the cow feel stress-free. So I’ve never seen how milk, butter, and cheese are not vegan. We make cows happy and get good milk in return, in excess of what the calf needs. Seems like a good trade for an animal that cannot survive without humans.
The cow doesn’t consent.
As dumb as that sounds, you have to realize that to produce milk you must first be a mother. And to keep milk coming, you gotta continue being a mother.
Only one way to turn a heifer into a cow…
Also gotta realize that modern livestock breeds (not just bovine but poultry, pork, etc) are quite removed from their wild ancestors. They are only here because we keep them here. We didn’t extend the same courtesy to most of their wild ancestors.
When a cheetah hunts a gazelle, the gazelle doesn’t consent to death. When parasites infest you, you don’t consent. When cows eat grass, the grass doesn’t consent.
There is nearly no form of food consumption that doesn’t extinguish a life or subjugate another lifeform. Until we can grow food in tubes to feed the human race, that will stay a fact of life for humans. Wild animals will continue though and that isn’t something we can nor should intervene in.
Sure.
My main reason for doing the vegan thing for so long wasn’t animal ethics…it was environmentalism and efficiency. Animal ethics came secondary, but I did come to understand the perspective.
Humanity is now able to make fully sustainable diets from non-animal sources. Some micronutrients (namely B12, D, Iron, Zinc, and Omega-3s) are difficult but not impossible to vegan-source.
I do not see a sustainable way to feed humanity going forward on an omnivorous diet. Especially not one that involves the volume of red meat that is found in a typical American diet.
However…your appeal to nature fallacy is flawed when you realize that there is nothing natural about modern agricultural livestock. You could say that an (American) slave had a better life than a person in the wilds of Africa. That obviously wouldn’t be accurate…but you could say it.
It’s not so much a matter of eat-or-be-eaten but one of freedom. And bovines especially…highly social creatures and incredible emotional intelligence. More than we give them credit for.
But even my hens exhibit unique “personalities” (chickenalities?), social hierarchy, even daily routines. I got one girl who, every day, I let them out, she follows me to the nesting box, checks out the situation, pecks my leg twice, then goes to her favorite dust-bath spot so the others don’t get there first.
We could obviously argue about this for a long time. We could link to studies supporting our own viewpoints and still end up disagreeing, so I’ll just short circuit that and disagree with you on most of what you said.
Only the last part I agree with: animals exhibit intelligence and social structures. That isn’t limited to mammals, hot or cold-blooded creatures but insects as well.
We humans think we are better, more evolved, more intelligent, and thus more deserving of the crown on this planet. How intelligent are we though if we lose our capability to reason in groups? How smart are we if refuse to tackle climate change? How deserving of the crown are we if we are willing to roll the dice and continue the mass extinction even we are provoking just so that a few of use can indulge for a few generations?
The cow doesn’t consent.
it’s absurd to discuss consent from anything nonhuman.
Found the bestiality enthusiast
this isn’t a schoolyard.
There are pockets of feral cattle in the world, including on Swona in Scotland, Australia, etc. So cows dont necessarily need us to survive, but we have bred things like dairy cows to such extremes that I doubt they would fare well. I do think it’s debatable that dairy cows are treated well, I think it unfortunately depends a lot on which farmer they end up with and how they view livestock livelihood.
oh, can you tell where I can find more information about feral cattle?
Well, to have milk, the cows have to get pregnanat regularly. The calves are taken away, which is kind of traumatizing. They are often not treated well. The male calves are killed for meat. Also, despite the fact it is possible to use transgenic bacteria, cheese is still produced in many cases by adding calf stomachs as a rennet, so cheese is often not even vegetarian. The real well being of milk cows is also often not as nice as one would expect, despite the fact that stress spoiling is a thing. Turns out some stress level doesn’t matter and some workers don’t mind the risk and enjoy the cruelty. There have recently been some cases made public in my country, so I’m more informed then I’d like to be.
The male calves are killed for meat.
the vast majority of them are brought to full weight before slaughter
There are multiple reasons for being vegan. Animal cruelty is an important one, but there are also significant medical benefits associated with eliminating animal proteins. Milk, butter, and cheese are still based on animal proteins. Look up “Whole Food Plant Based” if you’re curious.
I’ve been trying to eat vegan for several years now, after being mostly vegetarian for decades. Cheese is the one thing I just haven’t been able to give up entirely. It’s my single favorite food and the substitutes so far all fall under “better than nothing”.
Dairy, by nature of stress-spoiling, is relatively cruelty-free.
Blatant industry lying propaganda horseshit. The meat industry is rife with cruelty, to pretend otherwise is straight up dishonest.
There’s states where the industry even managed to get filming in a factory farm made illegal because they know just how unpleasant the entire operation is.
Your argument essentially boils down to “some animals can take more abuse than others before their bodies break down, therefore if you only eat the more fragile ones it’s relatively less cruel, so go ahead and enjoy”.
I’ve mostly given up eating beef for my own personal health reasons. I won’t seek it out but if a beef dish appears before me at dinner or something, then I’ll have it once in a while.
Giles Corey wouldn’t enter a plea to face an unjust trial so they tortured him to get him to enter a plea.
Giles Corey endured torture so his family would get his property
There’s no correlation between “More Weight” and “More face-eating leopards”
Giles Corey was in the right, he wasn’t a wizard. He fought an unjust government.
“These people” are nothing like Giles Corey
Yeah I was thinking about that after I posted. Giles Corey was a fucking badass and he doesn’t deserve that king of comparison.
These people would cut their own arms off if the people they don’t like would also lose a leg as a result.
As much as I love LAMF, I think it’s great that some of them are waking up, even if it’s only for selfish reasons, and even if they should have woken up before they voted the damn idiot in a second time.
“I’m still a Trump supporter. I’m just not a happy Trump supporter.”
OK I take it all back.
they said the same thing the first term, if they dint learn in his 1st term, they wont learn now.
A tragedy in two parts
We should be happy for them. They are getting what they voted for. Congratulations 🍾🎈🎊🎉
